Known affectionately as Charles, this gentle Shih Tzu was born on December 28, 2008, and graced our lives for 15 wonderful years until his peaceful departure on December 20, 2025, following a brief illness. Harley’s warm and loving nature touched everyone he met, whether he was nestled in a cozy lap during car rides or being held like a baby while he slept. His down-to-earth spirit made him a cherished companion, one who brought comfort and joy to his family and friends alike. Harley’s life was filled with adventures that spanned from the historic streets of Savannah, GA—where he once lived with his devoted mom, Susan Burkhart—to various welcoming corners of Kentucky, including his final home in Lancaster, KY. Throughout his journey, he formed a close bond with his fellow furry family members Rosie, Ralfie, and Muffy, and his loving presence enriched every home he graced. His playful antics, gentle soul, and unwavering loyalty are memories that will continue to inspire smiles and warm hearts. As we prepare to celebrate the remarkable life Harley lived, plans for a memorial service and funeral are in the works, with details regarding the date, time, and location to be shared in due course. In keeping with his caring nature, Harley’s final arrangements were made with love through cremation, ensuring that his spirit remains ever-present in our lives.
