Virginia Beach, VA - Joseph P. Mazzei passed away December 29th, 2020. He was 81.

He was currently residing in Virginia Beach. Born May 25, 1939, in Alliance, OH, to Pasquale and Mary (Butchelli) Mazzei, he lived in Alliance most of his life but moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where he lived with his companion Linda Shankle for more than 31 years before her passing in March 2020. He was a 1957 graduate of Alliance High School. He served in Army Reserve and retired at 50 from American Steel Foundries. He loved walking, never missed a day, spending time with family and friends, and watching any sport on TV, especially collegiate football. He enjoyed going out to dinner, dancing with Linda at all his local hot spots, long road trips out west and finally flew on an airplane a few years ago sightseeing overseas.

Survivors include his three sons Craig Mazzei (Cheri) Virginia Beach, VA; Dave Mazzei Lorain, OH; Dan Mazzei Youngstown, OH; sister Flora Howell Alliance, OH, five grandchildren Jared, Tyler, Zach, Maddie and Devyn, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brothers and sisters, Pete Mazzei, Harry Mazzei, Esther Mazzei and Rose Manera.

Joe's wishes were to be cremated. There will be no calling hours or services. The family will pay a final tribute in Ohio at a later date. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Sentara Princess Anne Hospital for the love, comfort and care they provided.
